In 2021, Mina Moscatelli, a student and traveler embarked on a journey to Ecuador to continue to grow her knowledge on the sustainability of bamboo. Moscatelli is currently getting her master’s degree in International Studies and Spanish, studying at The University of Wyoming. For her thesis, she studied the sustainability of bamboo used on small-scale levels. This led to her trip to Ecuador to learn about bamboo hands-on.

Moscatelli had the opportunity to talk with and interview local bamboo farmers. “I loved learning from the locals, their hospitality was unmatched.” She continued her learning about bamboo by doing hands-on work with the locals. Each family-owned bamboo farm had a unique way of harvesting and building with the bamboo. Through generations of bamboo growth on their lands, they have discovered revolutionary uses for bamboo.
